MSOE started as night classes in practical electricity, taught by a German immigrant engineer who saw Milwaukee's factories needed trained people fast. It's still built on that direct line to industry: a downtown campus, and students land project work with Harley-Davidson, Kohler, and Snap-on while still enrolled. Engineering and computer science lead, but 20 majors also include business, nursing, and actuarial science.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY
A 2,500-student engineering school inside a working city

MSOE's 22-acre campus sits in downtown Milwaukee itself, and student life leans on that: Student Government represents over 2,500 students, the Student Union Board runs campus events, and clubs range from a Formula Hybrid team that won a world championship to competitive drone racing. MSOE's own framing, that campus life is as much a part of the experience as any class or lab, matches what's described elsewhere: a small, close, technically-minded community where academic and social life overlap rather than sitting in separate lanes. No independent MSOE student newspaper or substantial aggregate student-review coverage was found this pass, a real gap for a school this size.
