      Design your own major

College offers countless resources for academic enrichment; imagine you have complete freedom to create your own major or degree plan. What classes would you include and how would it prepare you for your future?

      How to approach it

This prompt wants the origin story and the proof, not your resume. Pick the moment the interest became yours. Show one or two things you did about it on your own. Let the school see how you think when nobody assigns the work.

    • Honors CollegeRequired750 words max

      Leadership lesson

Think about an experience where you had the opportunity to lead—formally or informally. What did you learn about yourself as a leader, and how do you plan to build on that foundation during college?

      How to approach it

Goals prompts fail when they stay noble and vague. Pick one real problem you care about. Connect it to something you’ve already touched in real life. Make the goal clear enough that a reader could disagree with it. Specific beats impressive.

    • Honors CollegeRequired750 words max

      A sense of belonging

Reflect on a time when you felt a strong sense of belonging within a community. What made that experience meaningful, and how will you seek or create that same sense of belonging while in the Honors College?

      How to approach it

Here, specific beats important. A small, true community described from the inside beats a broad label. Write it as someone who was there, not as an observer. End on what you carry into a campus, not on a moral.

    • Honors CollegeRequired750 words max

      Ideas into action

Entrepreneurship is about having ideas and bringing them to life. Describe a project, initiative, or idea you've pursued (big or small) and explain how the Honors College will help you turn these ideas into action?
